"Memory Lane"

Oil paints, canvas board and simple design, this really does go way back in time, somewhere around 9 years old. I first started taking art lessons when I was around 9 years old and this is one of the very first paintings that I ever attempted. I painted in oils until I went off to art school and was introduced to many other options. With my personality oils never were a good fit, slow to dry, smelly and messy, whereas watercolors or acrylic just the opposite, fast drying, no smell and no mess. The one thing that your are afforded with oils as opposed to watercolor is that if you paint something you don't like or want to change, just paint over it. With watercolor it doesn't work like that and the supplies tend to be more expensive than oils as well. I can't believe that my mother kept these paintings all these years. I think if I had them in the past they would have probably been gone. I tend to look forward not back. I hope you liked looking into my past and seeing some of the first pieces that I started with and where I am at today. Enjoy!
