"Going Home"

Colors gone Wild? This is definitely not your typical watercolor painting. No subdued colors and light washes, this is bold and uncut and striking. This passing storm left the sunlight poking out from behind some very angry cloud formations. The silhouette of the cattle help ground the painting and give some depth and overall size to the landscape. This style of painting suits me to a t. I can work fast and bold and insert the final details at the end, the way I think that a watercolor painting should be done. The one problem with working this way is that you can wind up with a page full of mud. One color washing into the next and not working as a team with each other. For this reason your color choices are very important, yellow works with red not with blue, so on and so forth. Planning and layout are most important and when you have them figured out it's full steam ahead and no looking back. The sun rays were put in with an electric eraser and other highlights to the storm clouds as well. The sun center was worked with a napkin and then blended from inside out to make the edges a subtle glow. I have this print available at my online gallery - Fine Art America - Kirby Crow along with many others. Enjoy!
