"And the Wind Cried Mary"
It's been a long time since I have had this much fun working on a painting. No tiny brushes for details, 90% of this piece was painted with a 2" brush. Large colorful washes, dark darks and bright highlights made this thing fun to do. I started with a quick pencil drawing and continued that theme, working so fast that I had the hair dryer going between washes to speed up the down time. Look at yesterday's piece at the halfway mark and you will be able to tell what was done to tighten up the piece. The facial highlights and jewelry were added and basically the whole piece was darkened, which helps the details. Remember the first rule of painting - you can't have a highlight without a dark. I had a blast with this piece and just might do some more famous people portraits. Maybe Slash or Ozzy next time. Enjoy!
