"Tate"

What a difference a day makes. The portrait you saw of my son that was posted yesterday was bold strokes, quick color changes and heavy texture. This portrait is a one eighty from that standpoint. I wanted the skin to be smooth and all my color changes to be almost transparent and flow from one to the other. The hair is not the focal point and so was treated as such. The mouth, nose and eyes are what make this portrait so lifelike. I have been told by more than one person that this painting captures my subject better than any other portrait I have ever painted. I do believe the likeness to Taylor is spot on, but as being the best I don't know about that. I tend to paint a portrait in the style that I believe the person that is being depicted is best suited for. When you see the portrait of my Grandad, E.H. Boon, you will understand what I mean. He was rough, gruff and all man and that's the way I painted him as well. My daughter Taylor has always been all girl and that is how I tried to depict her. I hope you Enjoy!
