"Corky"

This portrait is one that I painted for someone that is very close to me. This is Corky Boyd and he is the brother of Buddy Boyd, my sister's significant other. I knew Corky before I knew Buddy, we were close in age and at one time neighbors. Corky loved the outdoors and anything that involved being in the outdoors. In his short life, he and I traded quite a bit of art. He collected western art and we would sometimes trade his prints for my originals. We both thought we were getting the better deal of the other one, so this really worked well. I painted this portrait as a Christmas present for Buddy a couple of years ago and it hangs in their house beside some other of my paintings. I hope he enjoys looking at it as much as I enjoyed painting it. Sometimes you almost don't even need reference photos to paint by when you know the subject so well. This was one of those cases. I am going to bring you some more portraits in the next couple of posts.
