"Saturday Night Pictures"

It's not often that I keep and display a piece of my own art in my own house, this is one of the exceptions. The unique content and the color scheme just seem to come together into a simple as well as dramatic piece. The drawing was done on 500 lb smooth watercolor paper with pencil. The next step was to bring color to the piece but from a limited palette of two colors - blue and brown. To me the painting works because it is so simple. When I first painted this picture, I sold it. After struggling with the thought of losing this piece, I bought the painting back from the buyer and painted him another painting. I don't know if this was the smartest thing I have ever done, but it worked out in the end. Over the years I have had many offers to sell the painting, onw coming just last week, but it is not for sale at this time. I should probably let go of it and let it hang in someone else's home or office, but I think we will hold onto it a little longer. Thanks for reading my rants - and pass this site on to your friends and families - I need readership. I think you probably noticed that I removed most of the ads that would supplement my site. I felt like they were too intrusive to the design and layout. I am working to make a section to put them back - but in a smaller scale. I want my followers to be able to buy books and supplies of art related items at a discount, but I don't want to be overwhelmed in the process. Leave your comments and ideas.
