Nature's Camouflage

The "Pheasant" you see at the left was a fun piece to paint. The natural camo of the bird against the autumn colors of the background make you really look to see what is going on in this subdued but busy watercolor. The background was painted wet in wet and very fast with the forefront details painted at the end. The bird was laid in large color blocks and then tightened up with pen and ink and small brush detail. Overall the contrast between foreground and background and colors makes the piece one to ponder, constantly finding little items that you didn't see before. This will be included in our "Wildlife Series". Hope You Enjoy! Please notice at the top of the blog on the left side we have added another gallery location. We are now showing at our own gallery - Full Contact Art Gallery as well as Fine Art America. Please visit either one and see our pieces of art.
