"Day Four - The Ray Project"

You are getting real, real close. Our painting is taking shape and the details are coming together. Today we will start the modeling of the shirt and keep building the details on the glasses and the face. Pay great attention to the mouth area along with the teeth, since this is basically the focal point of the whole painting. I would take my pencil and straighten up the areas that we have painted in large, quick washes so that you can then go back with your detail work and tighten the whole painting up.Make sure to watch the mouth area with the different levels of depth that is there: tongue, teeth, gums, and inside of the lips to the outside of the mouth - working from back to front, dark to light. You will also notice that you layed down multiple washes on the ear, under the glasses, and the chin. On Day Five we will finish with the final detail pieces and the painting will be finished. If you are painting with an expanded color palette the shirt is a great place to really get wild, I chose to subdue the colors to not take away from "Ray" himself. Enjoy!
