Portrait painting is a very specialized process. You can paint them from a live model or from photos. I prefer to work from photos since live models never like to set for long periods of time in the same position. Facial features need to be painted in the same light at all times. Children and older adults make the best models. Any person of age has the life lines that are interesting to paint and make up the bulk of their persona. Children, with their smooth skin and delicate features are a challenge as well. If anyone wants a visual record of their child, a portrait is a great way to achieve this.
