Well, well, well, isn't this exciting. I am very happy to bring you the artwork of an artist that I met from our mutual art gallery. She paints in the same medium as I do, watercolor, but in a distinctively different style. Patricia Pushaw was born in East Africa and now resides and paints in Malibu, California. Here, in the artists own words she describes her painting: "In the fall of 2007, wildfires swept through Malibu. The inspiration for this painting was taken in Bluffs Park from the aftermath of those fires. Even though the landscape was still scorched by the fires, the tall grasses in the evening light were more beautiful than I'd ever seen them. My painting attempts to capture this autumn light that illuminates a hare at rest. The texture of the rabbit was a challenge because of the light source behind it. I tried to capture the light on its fur by using a series of washes that finally blended to a rich neutral color." I wanted to bring the art of Patricia to my readers to show the difference in the way that the paints are used. We paint in different styles but have a lot of things in common in the fact that we get a lot of detail from paints that are really not made to use that way. Watercolors are meant to be painted in quick large washes with details added at the end, we break almost all the rules. I want you to visit her gallery page as well. She can be found at www.fineartamerica.com and then under Patricia Pushaw. This amazing artists has originals as well as prints for sell and she donates part of the proceeds to two great causes. When you go to her gallery look for the painting titled "Skyler" it's one of my favorites. Well done Patricia! Enjoy and we will see you tomorrow.
